CAPTURING THE MAJESTY OF SEI WHALES IN ARGENTINA: A CINEMATIC ODYSSEY
Cristian Dimitrius is on a daring mission off the coast of Argentina, venturing into the depths to film the elusive Sei whales for a National Geographic Pristine Seas documentary.
Joined by a multinational crew of researchers and Argentinian producers from Jumara Films, Dimitrius sets his sights on Rada Tilly, Chubut, a coastal gem teeming with marine life.
Their goal? To unveil the underwater world of the Sei whales, a species rarely filmed.
With meticulous planning and unwavering determination, the team aims to capture the whales' feeding behavior—a mesmerizing spectacle of grace and power.
At the heart of their expedition lies the intricate dance between Sei whales and their primary prey, krill. As these tiny crustacean’s swarm in shimmering masses, the whales embark on a feeding frenzy, showcasing the delicate balance of life beneath the waves.
Through Dimitrius's lens, we're invited into a realm of wonder and discovery, where every frame serves as a testament to the beauty and fragility of our oceans.
Stay tuned for this expedition results very soon here and on Cristian’s Instagram.
GREEN SHOOT
Cristian Dimitrius Productions is committed to offsetting the carbon emissions generated during our productions and services! After years working with nature, we decided that is about time to give back more, and to reduce our carbon footprint, we created the concept of GREEN SHOOT.
From now on, we will plant a tree for every edited minute in all our series produced by us, and for filming and fixing work we do for foreign productions, we will plant a tree for every second of the final sequence.
Planting will be carried out in degraded areas of the Brazilian Atlantic Forest, which is our biome most threatened by urban occupation. We began this work in 2023 and applied the method for our last main projects (Untamed Brazil 3, Blue Brazil, Untamed Planet: Mexico and Untamed Planet: Argentina), planting more than 1,150 trees native to the Atlantic Forest, including many araucaria trees (Araucaria angustifolia) that currently occupy less than 1% of their original coverage.
Join us in this GREEN SHOOT preservation action and let’s give back to the planet some of what it gives us.
Our Founder Cristian Dimitrius received the Diver of the Year award at the Boston Sea Rovers international event earlier on March 16th at 70th platinum anniversary of the Boston Sea Rovers, the oldest diving group in the whole world, annual event.
There are 70 years of history, and for the first time, a Brazilian won this award.
It's a select list of those who work with filming, scientific research, important people in the diving industry, who inspire people to take care of the planet. With the award also came a special invitation: his inclusion as a member of the Boston Sea Rovers. The first Brazilian in this regard too.
70 years of Boston Sea Rovers history with our Divers of the Year, varied talents of these important contributors to the underwater world, including the one and only Jacques Costeau. From the incredible photographic talent of Brian Skerry, Chuck Davis, Joe Romero, Berkeley White, and others, to influential filmmakers like Stan Waterman, Howard and Michelle Hall, and Rick Rosenthal, we've seen his work in many places. Famous Jaws author Peter Benchley was known for his books and films, as well as his conservation work to save sharks. Notable scientists and explorers include shark biologists Greg Skomal and Eugenie Clark, underwater icons Sylvia Earle and explorers Robert Ballard, and iceberg/cave diver Jil Heinerth. The early pioneers of the underwater world are also represented, including Harold Edgerton, Wes Skiles and many more.
“Being elected Sea Rovers Diver of the Year motivates me a lot, it gives me the fuel to do even more, create more films. It is a renewal of energy to be able to cause even stronger impacts. The planet and the oceans are in need”, says Cristian.

On Earth day, April 21, premieres the third instalment of NateGeo’s Emmy-winning “Secrets Of…” franchise, “Secrets Of The Octopus”, which uncovers the secret lives of one of the most alien-like animals on the planet.
Paul Rudd, who has previously starred in Marvel’s “Ant-Man” and most recently in the Hulu/Star Original series, “Only Murders In The Building”, will be narrating the documentary. From executive producer and National Geographic Explorer-at-Large James Cameron, the three-part docu-series follows the success of the Emmy-winning “Secrets Of The Whales”, narrated by Sigourney Weaver, and most recently Emmy-nominated and Critics Choice Documentary Award-winning “Secrets Of The Elephants, narrated by Natalie Portman. We had the pleasure to produce and film a complete sequence for the series in the remote island of Fernando de Noronha, Brazil. Octopuses are like aliens on Earth: three hearts, blue blood, and the ability to squeeze through a space the size of their eyeball. But there is so much more to these weird and wonderful animals. Highly intelligent, octopuses can use tools, transform their bodies to mimic other animals and even communicate with different species, including us. The secrets of the octopus are more extraordinary than ever imagined.

This expedition is to honor their contribution to our understanding of the world’s oceans while simultaneously exploring Antarctica. Cristian will be among expert image makers to register the beauty and mysteries of this frozen part of the planet. Follow this trip on Instagram.
For the past 2 years, we have been working side by side with production company Wildspace to film unique sequences, some never seen before, in the waters of Brazil. This is part of the next landmark series for Netflix and you can see the preview here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBqcdkgnT1E. Most of the shoots we have done have been remote so this requires a clear understand of what the producers want and what nature can offer for us to film Some things sometimes doesn’t work as expected but we guarantee we have got even better results when we didn’t had what we wanted in the first place. The sequences will blow your mind and we will be able to watch in 2025.
Cristian Dimitrius had the honor to diving and film the great illusionist David Blane in his latest endeavor, a new series for National Geographic “Beyond Belief with David Blaine”. Produced by Imagine Entertainment, during the series, David scours the world in search of extraordinary people—magicians, shamans, fakirs, and performers—who push themselves beyond what the world of medicine and science sees as possible. We cant say much about the experience we filmed but we guarantee that the whole team were very satisfied with the results and David blew his mind with what he saw. The series is still in production and will be released in 2024. Stay tuned.
Oscar-winning actor Tom Hanks is set to narrate a 10-part series called The Americas next spring. Featuring music by composer Hans Zimmer, the project is from BBC Studios Natural History Unit -- the creators of Planet Earth and Blue Planet -- and Universal Television Alternative Studio. We have been proud to work for this series in two unique sequences filmed in the Amazon which took us 2 years to complete the whole assignment. We can’t wait to see these images on screen narrated by the incredible Tom Hanks.
